1971 Pontiac Lemans Sport Convertible with slightly built 400. A diamond in the making. This is a project car and is getting closer to completion. 1971 Pontiac LeMans convertible with a mildly built V8 400. When I bought the car, it was from an owner who was very proud of the engine. If you hear it, you might agree. Sounds very strong. As for the rest of the car, I've disassembled everything, the parts are sorted, nuts, bolts,washers, etc all in their own individual zip locks. There are new parts, old parts, three complete factory books to use as reference and guide and the paint and body work is all professionally done. I've got $20k into this and hate to see it go, but now I have business projects that are going to keep me busy the next couple years. Time to sell. It's a great platform to work from and needs someone with the time to complete it. Located in Cathedral City, CA.
12/21 update: I've added some new photo's as I had it out of the garage yesterday. I am the estate manager for the owner and I have placed this ad for him. Your inquiries will be sent to him and he can answer any questions you have. However, I am the one who will be showing you the car while I am working on the property here. Some personal observations and what I know about the car. A month ago we brought the car out from San Diego where it was garaged. All of the parts that were inside of it have been boxed up. I have removed the all of these parts: nuts, bolts, screws, etc and have put them all in individual sorted bags so it's easier to separate each part of the project. The car didn't run when it got here. I was told the fuel pump was out and that there was no gas in it. I replaced the fuel pump, added gas, pulled the coil wire and turned it over for a minute to lube the top end before lighting it off. Hooked the coil up and simply a tap started it up. It hasn't been run very much in a couple of years and I was very surprised at how tight the engine sounds. No rattles, slapping or anything. I asked the owner about the engine paint and was told the engine compartment and engine were sand blasted. Which explains it's appearance. As for the trunk, I have a towel set on the base so it won't latch, that is why you don't see it closed all the way. The rims are original. It has new drum brakes all around and as well as new front suspension.
2/23/15 update: The engine compartment has been detailed and the engine painted to original Pontiac Blue. The Edelbrock RPM Performer intake manifold is natural aluminum finish and the Hooker headers have been painted in high temp flat black paint. What a difference! Just look at the pictures to see what I mean. The interior was sanded, cleaned and painted flat black and the wheels refinished in charcoal grey. The oil and filter have been changed and the car test driven. What great power and THAT LOPING V-8 SOUND! The car really wants to go and turn heads along the way. A great father-son project! and could be a show stopper with a little more effort. Someone is going to be very happy with this project. I wish I could have bought it in it's current condition. SOLD
